Alleviate flatulence

Flatulence can contribute significantly to the abdominal girth if it is pronounced.

For a slender belly, it makes sense not only to reduce fat, but also to reduce possible flatulence.

If you do not suffer from flatulence, you can safely skip this chapter.

There are numerous measures to prevent and treat flatulence.

If it is possible to prevent flatulence, it is not necessary to treat it, therefore the methods of preventing flatulence are in the foreground.

Among the foods there are some that promote flatulence. It therefore makes sense to leave out these foods. Or, if you like these foods particularly much, you should be aware that your stomach will temporarily become thicker because it contains air.

The following foods are considered to promote bloating:

  • All types of cabbage, e.g. white cabbage
  • Pulses, e.g. beans, peas
  • salsifies
  • onions
  • garlic

Onions and garlic play a special role because, although they promote the development of flatulence, they also promote the elimination of air from the stomach. For example, you should eat cabbage or legumes together with onions or garlic so that the air does not accumulate painfully in the abdomen. However, one has to reckon with the intensified descent of winds in order to get rid of the air again.

For some people, other foods also have a bloating-promoting effect:

  • Whole grain - in people with whole grain intolerance
  • Dietary Fibres - at Dietary Fibre Recyclers
  • Dairy products - in people with lactose intolerance
  • Fruit and fructose - in people with fructose intolerance

Carbonated mineral water can also cause flatulence. If you tend to get flatulence from sparkling water, it can help to drink still mineral water instead.

You can also get flatulence if you eat too hastily and swallow air. Therefore, one should take time to eat and chew the food thoroughly before swallowing it.

A hot-water bottle, for example, helps against acute flatulence.

In addition, there are some medicinal herbs that help against flatulence. This includes, among other things:

  • fennel
  • anise
  • caraway

Medicines containing the active ingredient Simeticon can also help to relieve flatulence when they are particularly stubborn. Simeticon preparations are available as drops, chewy sweets or capsules. They are available in pharmacies and drugstores.

Gentle massages can also relieve flatulence. To do this, rub the belly clockwise (seen from the outside) in large circles around the navel. The large intestine also runs in this direction. The massage helps to transport the air from the large intestine to the exit.
