Various blood values

Some other blood values are associated with obesity or the ability to lose weight.

However, it is not specifically about the thick belly, but generally about overweight.

Uric Acid

Uric acid is a waste product of the protein metabolism, more precisely of purines. These purines are part of the cell nuclei, which are particularly abundant in meat products but also in human cells.

If the uric acid level is too high, gout with its extremely painful attacks can occur.

Increased uric acid levels are primarily a congenital problem. However, a diet high in meat, especially offal, can exacerbate this problem.

Rapid weight loss is also a problem, as many human cells are broken down during weight loss, which also increases uric acid levels.

This is why you should not lose weight too quickly, as rapid weight loss can lead to gout attacks.

The examination of uric acid values is one of the standard blood tests and is therefore usually paid for by the health insurance companies.

Normal uric acid laboratory values

Following are the normal uric acid blood values:

Women: 2.3 - 6.1 mg/dl
Men: 3.6 - 8.2 mg/dl

Urea

Urea is also a waste product of protein metabolism.

Normally, the values of urea tests mainly provide information about whether the kidneys function well.

However, deviations from normal values can also provide information about the body's reaction to some eating habits.

Increased urea levels can occur, for example, if you eat a high-protein diet. But even if you drink too little, the urea value increases. In addition, a lot of vitamin C, diuretics, antihypoglycemic drugs and some antibiotics can increase the urea value.

If you eat very little protein, the values may be lowered.

If urea values deviate from the norm, one should therefore ask oneself whether the amount of protein in the diet makes sense and whether one drinks enough.

Of course, the kidney should also be examined for possible malfunctions.

Normal urea laboratory values

Following the normal urea blood values:

Blood: 17 - 43 mg/dl
Urine: 20 - 35 g/day

Hb-value

Hb shows how much hemoglobin is present in the red blood cells. Hemoglobin provides the oxygen uptake of the blood cells and the body.

If you have an Hb value that is too low, you usually feel weak and powerless. Intensive sport is then out of the question.

Therefore it is important to have a good Hb value for weight loss. This is achieved by iron supplements, an iron-rich diet and the prevention of heavy bleeding (e.g. excessive menstruation).

The examination of the Hb-value is part of the usual examination of the blood count. It is carried out, for example, if anemia is feared. Then the examination will also be paid for by the health insurance companies.

Normal Hb laboratory values

Following the normal Hb blood values:

Women: 12.3 - 15.3 g/dl
Men: 14.0 - 17.5 g/dl

Eosinophilic leukocytes

Eosinophilic leukocytes are a special type of white blood cells. They are more common in allergic reactions.

If you suffer from frequent flatulence and other intestinal complaints, food intolerance or even allergy could be the cause.

An elevated level of eosinophilic leukocytes would be another indication of an allergic event. However, hay fever also causes an increase in eosinophilic leukocytes. Further research is needed to find out whether one is allergic to certain foods. A general renunciation of dairy products does not make sense, however, because the problem could also lie with completely different foods.

The eosinophilic leukocytes are not examined very often. This requires a so-called differential blood count. Whether the health insurance pays for this examination depends on the individual case.

Normal laboratory values for eosinophilic leukocytes

Following are the normal blood values for eosinophilic leukocytes:

  • Blood: 1.0 - 4.0 %
