Cryolipolysis is a medical procedure that uses local hypothermia to reduce small fat deposits.

The idea behind cryolipolysis is that fat cells die faster when they are severely hypothermic.

For this purpose, the outer abdominal fat is sucked into a device by vacuum. In this device the fatty tissue, including the skin, is cooled down to about 10°C for one hour.

Over the next few weeks, the fat cells cooled during the treatment will gradually die off.

This method is suitable if you are slim overall, but have persistent residues of external abdominal fat that cannot be eliminated by exercise or a low-calorie diet. Cryolipolysis is then an alternative to liposuction.

Cryolipolysis costs about the same as liposuction in several treatments.

Cryolipolysis can cause temporary bruising, numbness or redness.
